Mt. Charelston

Red Rock Canyon
Just 15 miles (24 km.) west of Las Vegas. 3,000-foot escarpment produced by thrust fault. A very scenic area of rock formations and open desert. Spring Mountain Ranch National Park
At Blue Diamond, NV 89004 (702) 875-4141 Visitor Center is open Mon. and Fri. 12pm-4pm, Sat. and Sun. 10am-4pm. Closed Tues.- Thurs. Picnic area open every day. Entrance fee $4.00 per car. From Las Vegas take Charleston Ave. west. Continue as it turns into Hwy. 159 and pass Red Rock Canyon.

Valley of Fire State Park
Just 55 miles (88 km.) from Las Vegas. Scenic landscapes of hidden canyons and unique rock formations, petroglyphs and remains of ancient Indian civilization. Nevada Park Service visitor center open daily, 8:30am-4: 30pm, tours available. There is a $3 entrance fee. From Las Vegas take I-15 north to Exit 75 and turn right.
