Vegas take Expressway 515 south, turns into US 93 south through Henderson and Boulder
City to the Nevada/Arizona border along the Colorado River.
LAKE MEAD NATIONAL RECREATION
AREA
Open 50 miles of shoreline, 25
miles west of Las Vegas. Swimming, water skiing, camping, boating, fishing, six marinas,
tours available. From Las Vegas take US 93/95 south to Lake Mead Dr./Hwy. 146. On
Lake Mead Dr./Hwy. 146 go east through Henderson to Lake Mead Recreation Area.
MT. CHARLESTON
35 miles (56 km.) from Las Vegas,
highest elevation 11,918 feet, winter skiing, picnicking, hiking, horseback riding,
tours available. From Las Vegas take US 95 north to Hwy. 157, then west on Hwy.157

LEE CANYON/MT. CHARLESTON

RED ROCK CANYON
Just 15 miles (24 km.) west of
Las Vegas. 3,000-foot escarpment produced by thrust fault. A very scenic area of
rock formations and open desert. Bureau of Land Management Visitor Center is open
each day 8am- 4pm. From Las Vegas take Charleston Ave. west. Continue as it turns

SPRING MOUNTAIN RANCH STATE
PARK

VALLEY OF FIRE STATE PARK
Just 55 miles (88 km.) from Las
Vegas. Scenic landscapes of hidden canyons and unique rock formations, petroglyphs
and remains of ancient Indian civilization. Nevada Park Service visitor center open
daily, 8:30am-4: 30pm, tours available. There is a $3 entrance fee. From Las Vegas
